The institutional library committee part II: a tool for getting things done

Purpose – This article's purpose is to show how the institutional library committee can be employed to improve library services through work contributions. Design/methodology/approach – The article presents the problem of limited staff time for new initiatives, explains how the library committee can be employed to help, and then lists possible projects for them to undertake. Findings – The article finds that library committees can be useful in supplementing staff work, if managed well. Practical implications – The library committee can help the library accomplish more with little or no increase in library staffing. Social implications – Library committee members can contribute to library functionality in practical ways beyond facilitating communication and garnering support. Originality/value – The value of the article is in finding another way to do more with what you have.
