The Lorentzian diffusion of hydrogen in neon and xenon
Relative diffusion coefficients have been measured for the almost Lorentzian gas mixtures Ne-H2 and Xe-H2, in the temperature range from 237 K to 420 K. The temperature dependence of the diffusion coefficient expressed in terms of the function [2 − (∂ ln D∂ ln T)p] shows an overall agreement with theoretical calculations on Lorentzian mixtures. For the heavy noble gas mixtures however, the influence of the rotational degree of freedom on this function is rather large.
