The Outlook for 1993 and 1994: Marked Recession – Sluggish Recovery
In 1993, the Austrian economy is in recession. For the first time in more than a decade demand and output are shrinking – by an estimated ¾ percent, about as much as in the wake of the two oil price shocks. Employment is declining albeit less than suggested by the fall in activity. However, price stability and the external balance will not improve substantially.
