... This paper explains the model and then focuses on the question of how small and medium sized companies are able to act as successful players in this new economic order. Data from 102 German and Austrian companies are used to describe the actual state of virtualization and to analyze the related factors of success. As a major finding, competitive strategies are shown which differ with respect to company size.
