We are What We Believe – Innovation Performance and the Technological Frames of ERP Systems

This research proposes and examines a framework for advancing the innovation performance of organizations through the adoption of ERP technology. This research employs a technological frame perspective to argue that factors in the organization (i.e. its flexibility) and the individual (i.e. ERP skills) play a role in improving the users technological frames towards the system to advance the innovations. Research hypotheses are tested on data from a global survey of 210 ERP managers using Structure Equation Modelling. Organization flexibility and ERP users' skills to improve their technological frames, which improves innovation performance. ERP users’ skills do not have a direct effect on organization innovation performance but are fully mediated by the users’ technological frames, though organizational flexibility has a direct and a mediated effect on the performance of innovation. this study is the first, using a technological frames perspective, to theorise the role of the technological frames on organisation innovations
