Web Services Adoption Process : A Roadmap to Manage Organizational Change

Based on Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) paradigm, Web Services is one of the most recent integration technologies enabling “dynamic e-Business”. Implementation of Web Services revolutionizes application design and development concepts, and introduces a shift from object-oriented to component-based distributed computing. However, the transition is not limited to the organization’s IT architecture and practices. Depending on the scope, implementation of Web Services might change the business and the operational model of the organization. By adding a change perspective, the research is motivated to develop a base for further theory development on Web Services adoption. The outcome of this discussion is a conceptual framework, a roadmap, for Web Services adoption. Proposed enterprise-wide roadmap will guide managers through Web Services adoption and support them to manage the organizational change efficiently
