Ranks and Pseudo‐ranks—Surprising Results of Certain Rank Tests in Unbalanced Designs
Brunner, Edgar; Konietschke, Frank; Bathke, Arne C.; … - In: International Statistical Review 89 (2021) 2, pp. 349-366
Rank-based inference methods are applied in various disciplines, typically when procedures relying on standard normal theory are not justifiable. Various specific rank-based methods have been developed for two and more samples and also for general factorial designs (e.g. Kruskal–Wallis test or...

Nonparametric tests for stochastic ordering
Ledwina, Teresa; Wyłupek, Grzegorz - In: TEST: An Official Journal of the Spanish Society of … 21 (2012) 4, pp. 730-756
We present two new tests for stochastic ordering in a standard two-sample scheme. We approach the problem via its reparametrization in terms of Fourier coefficients in some corresponding system of functions and combining the resulting empirical Fourier coefficients. The empirical Fourier...

A permutation test for multivariate data with grouped components
Park, Hyo-Il; Hong, Seung-Man - In: Journal of Applied Statistics 37 (2010) 5, pp. 767-778
In this paper, we consider a nonparametric test procedure for multivariate data with grouped components under the two sample problem setting. For the construction of the test statistic, we use linear rank statistics which were derived by applying the likelihood ratio principle for each...

A Study of the Calibration Regression Model with Censored Lifetime Medical Cost
Lu, Min - 2006
Medical cost has received increasing interest recently in Biostatistics and public health. Statistical analysis and inference of life time medical cost have been challenging by the fact that the survival times are censored on some study subjects and their subsequent cost are unknown. Huang...

Censored Linear Regression for Case-Cohort Studies
Nan, Bin; Yu, Menggang; Kalbfleisch, Jack - Berkeley Electronic Press - 2004
Right censored data from a classical case-cohort design and a stratified case-cohort design are considered. In the classical case-cohort design, the subcohort is obtained as a simple random sample of the entire cohort, whereas in the stratified design, the subcohort is selected by independent...

On characterization of two-sample U-statistics
Schechtman, E.; Schechtman, G. - In: Statistics & Probability Letters 58 (2002) 1, pp. 53-59
A verifiable condition for a symmetric statistic to be a two-sample U-statistic is given. As an illustration, we characterize which linear rank statistics with two-sample regression constants are U-statistics. We also show that invariance under jackknifing characterizes a two-sample U-statistic.
