Citation styles

There are incredibly many citation styles - and not one single standard that is used across all disciplines or even within one discipline.
Many professors have a preferred style. Search on the website of their chair / department / ..., or ask for it. If there is one: Keep to the specifications of your profs!
If you can choose freely, stick to the decision you made. (You can use APA style, Harvard style, etc. as a guideline).

Example: APA Style

1. I keep to the specifications of my profs. If they do not make any, I discuss my decision for a style with them.

2. I use the APA style, even if my prof has put a style guide online. The APA style is more enhanced and is widespread in the academic community.

3. The freedom of science prevails, so that I can freely choose my quotation style.
