23rd EGOS Colloquium - Beyond Waltz - Dances of Individuals and Organization
Dance is also a metaphor for the relationship between and among individuals and organisation(s). The latter seems to have changed over the past decades. Examples include the development from the industrial and organizational man of the 1960s to post-modern notions of individuals, from hierarchical organisations with firm limits to virtual organisations with fuzzy boundaries or from standardized employment contracts to a variety of contractual relationships. This points towards important aspects such as: coordinating and synchronising mechanisms; social and historical embeddedness; domination, subjugation and mutual dependence; or rules of the relationship and divergent ways to respond to similar conditions.
