"Energy, friend or foe?" Energy use, Economic Development and the Environment
Ensuring the compatibility of our goals in energy policy, economic policy and environmental policy is a core challenge for policy makers. Can our modern economy rely on renewable energy sources only? What is the right policy mix of planning, regulation of energy markets, promotion of energy efficiency and the promotion of renewable energies? What role do energy subsidies play for energy use and the environment? Is energy efficiency as feasible and affordable for our society as proponents say? How can we transform our energy sectors without increasing energy shortages? This colloquium tries to answer these questions from a liberal point of view.
