ERSA Workshop "Representivity, Diversity, and Gender in Economics in South Africa"
South Africa has had its fair share of issues with regards to the participation and contribution of various groups in society. These issues cut across various social cleavages such as race and gender. The study and practice of economics in South Africa has not been spared from these wider societal issues. To promote research on these issues and to devise a strategy for inclusiveness going forward, Economic Research Southern Africa (ERSA) will convene a research workshop in in February 2020 in South Africa. The exact location will be confirmed at a later date. The conference hopes to feature presentations on the state and evolution of representation in Economics in South Africa, as well as on other related research areas. Proposals for both theoretical and empirical papers on representivity, diversity and other related topics are welcome. Proposals from scholars who are early in their careers and researchers from under-represented groups are especially welcome.
