IARIW-CAMPAS Special Conference “Experiences and Challenges in Measuring National Income, Wealth, Poverty and Inequality in the Arab World”
The objective of the conference is to further our understanding of developments in the area of income levels, income growth, productivity, poverty and inequality in the Arab world, from an empirical and measurement perspective. The conference will feature sessions dealing with problems and issues in macro measurement issues such as national income, sectoral output measurement, and productivity. Price measurement issues and international comparisons in income measurement could also be topics up for discussion at the conference. The conference will also have sessions dealing with micro measurement issues such as difficulties and challenges in the measurement of poverty and inequality using income and non-income approaches, inequality of assets and wealth, objective and subjective measures of well-being, drivers of inequality, taxation and inequality, government spending and inequality, measurement of employment and time use as well as associated statistical and methodological issues. The papers should focus on issues and challenges in the Arab region and neighboring countries.
