International Conference „Constructing Resilience“
The aim of the conference is to stimulate cross-disciplinary dialogue among world leading experts representing sociology, political sciences, geography, planning studies and regional economy about the notions’ conceptual scope and limitations. Furthermore, the relevance of spatial categories in understanding practices of constructing resilience will be scrutinized. A particular emphasis will be put on the socio-technical, political and discursive construction work that underlies calculations of vulnerability and strategies of increasing resilience and to discover common conceptual ground by comparing experiences and insights from various fields, ranging from urban planning to regional development, environmental change, risk management and volatile markets.
