International Symposium on HRM and the Creation of Effective Organisations in Africa
We invite papers of a conceptual, theoretical and empirical orientation, covering but not limited to the following topics: - emergent themes and patterns in the management of people, and their impact on organizational effectiveness - cross-cultural comparisons of management practices in a culturally diverse continent - the impact of African cultural norms and values on the effectiveness of modern management practices - the development of indigenous HR and management practices that are congruent with the local context - the contribution of African philosophical thought to HR theory and practice - the adoption and suitability of foreign management practices, especially from the emergent economies of Asia - HRM, culture, entrepreneurialism and organisational performance - the impact of globalisation on management practices and organisational performance - the role of expatriates, inpatriates and cross-functional global teams in developing and disseminating effective HR practices - evidence of learning organisations and their effectiveness; the challenge of creating and diffusing knowledge and the role of HRM in these efforts - the impact of practices like nepotism and ethnicity on HRM and organizational effectiveness - HRM, business ethics and corporate social responsibility.
