International Workshop "The Professionalization of Higher Education Management? Comparative Perspectives on University Leadership and Administration"
Topic: Similar to broader developments within the non-profit and public sector over the last two decades publicly funded higher education organizations in most OECD countries have been subject to profound organizational transformations. Despite very different culturally embedded models and national path-dependencies there is a general trend towards a more “managerial regime” of university governance and institutional self-management. While there has been broad interest in subsequent institutional responses of universities and implications regarding research activities, changes of university leadership and administration have received less attention in theoretical and empirical research so far.
