Policy forum: strengthening financial market infrastructure - Centre for Central Banking Studies
This forum will take a forward-looking perspective in attempting to identify areas where further policy initiatives may be needed to ensure that regulatory standards for financial market infrastructures (FMIs) are suitably designed and implemented, with an over-arching focus on mitigating systemic risk. The following topics are likely to be covered: - potential gaps or inconsistencies in the April 2012 Principles for financial market infrastructures and their application; - the appropriate structure of central clearing arrangements; - new developments in collateral management and the implications for custody risk; - whether FMIs should operate on a 24/7 basis; and - how new types of infrastructure can help to identify or reduce systemic risk.
