"The Beginning of the End of the Fossil Fuel Era" - Public lecture by Prof. Dr. M. Scott Taylor, University of Calgary (Canada) and NBER
"Whereas some have been emphasizing the negative consequences of a pending drop in the oil supply under the heading “Peak Oil”, societies and governments (including the Swiss) now seriously think about raising taxes on sources of energy to promote the energy transition. As an economist, our speaker looks at this issue from a much broader and long-term point of view using theory and data to answer the question of whether we are, indeed, moving increasingly fast away from fossil fuels, thus switching to an alternative steady state of the energy system. -- After the lecture, the speaker will be open for questions. Anyone interested is invited to attend." Prof. M. Scott Taylor is the Canada Research Chair in International, Energy and Environmental Economics at the University of Calgary, Alberta, and Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).
