Study on matrimonial property regimes and the property of unmarried couples in private international law and internal law

This report is made with the aim to lay out the general structure of the Finnish legislation concerning marriage and other kind of partnerships relevant from the point of view of law and legal institutions. The method used is the classical method of jurisprudence: an analysis based on legal norms, law literature, and case law of the Supreme Court. The questionnaire has been followed as closely as possible, thus aiming to facilitate the demanding task of an union-wide comparison of the topic. As to the recent Finnish law amendments of private international regulation, there are no literature sources or case law to refer to. Thus the report is made on the basis of the laws as such and the Government Bills to the Parliament.
