CO<SMALL>2</SMALL> emissions mitigation policies and their effects on the Thailand energy system
Thailand's rate of energy consumption has been growing at a fast pace due to its economic development with a corresponding rapid increase in CO<SMALL>2</SMALL> emissions. Given the widely accepted fact between CO<SMALL>2</SMALL> emissions and climate change, mitigation policies in Thailand become an essential part. The analysis is aimed at studying the effects of Thailand's CO<SMALL>2</SMALL> emissions mitigation options on the energy system and at determining the possible CO<SMALL>2</SMALL> emissions reduction. In the paper we analyse that the imposition of a carbon tax in the region $20/tonC could reduce CO<SMALL>2</SMALL> emissions by 5% up to the year 2020.
