Green Financing and its Future Prospects in Climate-Vulnerable Asian Countries : The Case of Bangladesh

We discuss the various approaches the Bangladesh Bank has taken to address climate risks in the financial system of Bangladesh, one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change. To understand the forces reshaping green financing in Bangladesh, we provide a systematic accounting of the green financing initiatives being considered by the Bangladesh Bank to help tackle climate issues. We also review recent empirical studies that offer solution-oriented policy pathways to reducing carbon emissions and preventing climate change. In this context, we discuss how Bangladesh Bank can step up its climate change efforts in response to faster than expected global warming
