India in 21st Century : A Responsible Rising Power?
India has always been hailed as a land of tolerance and inclusivity. People from different regions immigrated here in different time periods and made it their permanent home. Despite being a land of contradictions and differences, people chose to live here, not in isolation but integrated with others. Indian State too, time and again, preached the ancient rhetoric of 'Vasudhaiv kutumbakam' (The World Is One Family). India through its constitution, policies, and actions tries to uphold the ideals, principles, and values it stood for. The Indian state is always in the process of image-making, the image of being a friendly and cooperative state. Powerful enough to protect and not so tyrant to attack and plunder. Right from its independence, it took careful stances in world politics. the attempt was to ensure national interest but not at the cost of enmity with any country. Although there were backfires and fundamental shortcomings yet the state kept its spirit and reputation intact on the basis of its 'responsible state' projections. Through its Nuclear policy, it assured the world of a 'no first use' and non-aggressive approach. It provided aid, assistance, and support through bilateral and multilateral mediums. It managed quite successfully the refugee crisis and still managing it, though questions have been raised lately about its inconsistencies. In the climate change regime, India is blooming as a leader with its proactive participation. India claims to be a responsible country and the world too, apparently, has started to acknowledge these projections
