Review of Urban Transport Initiatives in India with a Focus on Urban Transport Planning Scheme (UTPS)

Cities are essential for fostering wealth and economic growth. The impact of infrastructure on a city's physical, social, and institutional growth is significant. The significance of urban transportation is crucial in this situation. This paper provides an overview of the different initiatives taken up by the Government of India in developing the urban transportation sector. The need for UTPS and different initiatives prior to UTPS are discussed initially in the article. This is followed by the UTPS guidelines and the most recent urban transportation initiatives in India
