Superintelligent Machines & the Dismal Science is a short essay that explores the intersection of empirical economic methodology and future advances in artificial intelligence. Pointing out theoretical weaknesses of the empirical approach, it is argued that the emergence of superintelligence would culminate in a disruption of economics as a discipline. Finally, this would also bring about a synthesis between the competing dogmas of "market forces" and "central planning", which have underpinned economic reasoning for centuries
