ESGAB annual report 2024 : sixteenth annual report by the European Statistical Governance Advisory Board to the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union on the implementation of the European Statistics Code of Practice by Eurostat and the European Statistical System as a whole

The present 2024 Annual Report emphasises the importance of professional independence and impartiality and objectivity for statistical bodies, highlighting the need for robust legal provisions to ensure that statistical authorities operate free from external influence and in an impartial and objective manner. The report also highlights the importance of enhanced coordination and cooperation among producers of European statistics so as to ensure implementation of the principles of the European Statistics Code of Practice (ESCOP) throughout the statistical system and the production of European statistics of harmonized high quality. These themes have been a consistent focus of the ESGAB's recommendations in its 15 years of annual reports.
