2011-2016 : 5 years of rule-making and supervisory coordination for more efficient, transparent and stable banking in the EU
Established on 1 January 2011, the European Banking Authority (EBA) is the EU agency that contributes to the creation of a single market in EU banking that is beneficial to business, consumers and, ultimately, the broader EU economy. The EBA does so by building a single regulatory and supervisory framework applicable to the entire EU banking sector across the 28 Member States, as well as by overseeing and assessing trends, potential risks and vulnerabilities across borders and sectors in EU banking.
