A model of endowment-constrained demand for food in an agricultural economy with empirical applications to Bangladesh

This paper explores the relationships between distribution of assets and systematic undernutrition in rural populations. A formal theoretical model is developed to explore the impact of short-term price changes on the nutrition of various economic classes. An empirical simulation model is developed for rural Bangladesh. This model links endowments like land, labor and livestock to demand for food using prices and incomes and intermediate variables.
