A Probit Regression Approach for Predicting High Job Performance for Administrative Staff in Heis of Ghana
Human resource development is critical for a Country's economic growth. Thus, strategic planning is essential for any Country's attempt to improve its citizens' human development through a comprehensive plan. As Universities have grown over the last few decades, the need for better-performing strategies is important than ever. Performance evaluation is useful in this regard because it enables organizations to set performance goals for workers to meet the overall organization's primary objective. This study applied regression to propose an extension to a developed performance appraisal model for Administrative Staff of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Ghana to leverage the model's applicability in a practical scenario while considering risk into account. In particular, probit regression is used to investigate the dynamics of the interaction between appraisal satisfaction and job capability to predict the likelihood of high job performance. The findings of the probit regression analysis show that appraisal satisfaction is influenced by the perceived fairness of the performance appraisal system. Moreover, appraisal satisfaction has a direct and positive impact on job performance and job capability. Thus, this is an important consideration to develop any performance appraisal model. This study contributes to the literature by providing additional empirical support to the proposition that employee appraisal satisfaction has a direct impact on job performance and job capability
