A Study of Student Support and Progression Criteria in Accreditation of Institutions of Higher Learning

The facility of student support services comprising personal and financial counselling, careers guidance and support for students is an familiar part of the support available to students in all higher education institutions (HEIs).The growing multiplicity of students entering HEIs has resulted in supplementary support being made available to sustenance the academic and personal development of students, including learning skills to support academic writing skills and subject specific support to address gaps in subject based knowledge and understanding. This paper presents a review of literature on the provision of student support that contributes to the quality of the students learning experience, mentoring, progression and to their educational achievement
