A systematic approach to the comparison of Management and Financing models in the European toll road sector
The share of privately managed road infrastructure throughout Western Europe is relatively high; the progress among these countries is unequally developed. While private concessionaires have been established in England, France, Spain, Finland, France, Italy and Portugal since the late 1950s, Germany is far behind these developments, which are based on different circumstances. A systematic approach towards notoriously intermingled spheres and concerns is examined, covering privatisation-, organisational- and contractual models in Europe.
