Allocative efficiency and its implications on privatization : A case study of Tenaga Nasional of Malaysia (TNB)

The demand and cost functions for NEB (National Electricity Board or Tenaga Nasional) of Malaysia are estimated, the Pareto efficient price and output combination, based on the demand and cost functions estimated, are computed for selected years, that is, 1970, 1975, 1980, 1985 and 1987, and implications of the results computed on the privatisation plans of NEB are discussed in this study.
