An Application of Neoclassical Development Ideas to Botswana

This research paper is designed to discuss the theoretical principles governing the neoclassical world and then applies them to the case of Botswana. The analysis shows that poverty remains one of the biggest economic and social problems although Botswana experienced high growth rates since its independence. The extreme poverty is due mostly to a weak economic growth in the rural sector, unequal access to resources, high rate of HIV/ AIDs, gender inequality and a relatively high unemployment rate.
