Analysis of the Scope of Application of Singapore Convention on Mediation and Proposed Amendments to Vietnamese Law

United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation (the “Singapore Convention”) was adopted by the General Assembly in 2018. This is the latest effort by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law to harmonize international law relating to the settlement of international commercial disputes. In this article, the authors, after providing a critical analysis of the scope of application provided for in the Singapore Convention, in comparison to the Vietnamese law on commercial mediation, propose some amendments to bring Vietnam’s mediation legislation in line with the Singapore Convention
