Answering to Bloomfield's Invitation : The Application of the Density-Dependence Model to VWs

This work delves in the recent interests showed by academics and businesses about virtual worlds, and Second Life in particular. Accepting the challenge launched by R. Bloomfield, I propose to adopt the population ecology theory and the density dependence model to study the pattern of evolution of business models in Second Life. The work states the reasons why population ecology could be considered suitable to study digital environments, and it proposes the creation of a database of information in order to perform a research study
