Applicability of Rans Models and Pressure Periodicity for Wire-Wrapped Fuel Bundle Channel in Ciads

A Visual Hydraulic ExperimentaL Platform (VHELP) was constructed to evaluate the applicability of Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) models and study the pressure distribution in the fuel bundle channel of the China initiative accelerator-driven system (CiADS) . Thirty differential pressures of a 19-pin wire-wrapped fuel bundle channel under different conditions were measured using deionized water. The pressure distribution in the fuel bundle channel at Reynolds numbers of 5000, 7500, 10000, 12500, and 15000 was simulated using Fluent. The shear stress transport k-ω model provided the most accurate prediction of the pressure distribution. The pressure periodicity in the axial and transverse directions (one pitch) was studied.
