L’attractivité des investissements directs étrangers dans l’espace méditerranéen (Foreign direct investements location in the medideranean area )

Ce papier analyse les éléments déterminants des investissements directs étrangers dans trois pays du Sud et de l’Est de la méditerranée durant la période 1970-1996. Le cadre théorique du modèle élaboré s’inscrit dans celui de l’approche de l’adaptation institutionnelle développée par Wihelms (1998). Les IDE sont déterminés moins par des éléments fondamentaux que par des variables institutionnelles indiquant le rôle des variables politiques, sociales et de niveau d’éducation. L’analyse économétrique montre que les variables gouvernement et marchés sont les éléments déterminants les plus significatifs des flux d’IDE. This paper analyzes the determining elements of the foreign direct investments in three Eastern European countries of the South and of the Mediterranean during the period 1970-1996. The theoretical framework of the elaborate model fits in that of the approach of the institutional adaptation developed by Wihelms (1998). The EDI are given less by fundamental elements that by institutional variables indicating the role of the political, social variables and of level of education. The econometric analysis shows that the variables government and markets are the determining elements most significant of flows of EDI.
