Back to the Drawing Board : Assessing Priorities for Intellectual Property Rights Interests in the East African Community

This paper brings out the objectives of the East African Community (EAC), particularly principles related to cross-border trade and Intellectual Property Rights Protection. It analyzes domestic legislation in each Partner State of the East African Community in assessing how far each Partner State has given priority towards the harmonization of IP laws in conformity with the dictates of the EAC Common Market Protocol. In the final part of the paper, proposals are made towards improving on the current status quo
