Biodiversity Conservation and Ecosystem Services: A Review of Experience and Strategic Directions for the IDB

The purpose of this note is to guide the development of the new Biodiversity Platform of the IDB by summarizing its past experiences in biodiversity and by identifying strengths, weaknesses, and value added. On the basis of this, it identifies a niche for the IDB in biodiversity, proposes the strategic direction, goal, objective, and main pillars of the Platform, and identifies the internal actions needed to increase the Bank's capacity to implement it.
