BRICS and development alternatives : innovation systems and policies

The BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) are currently at the crossroads of major structural economic and political changes. The aim of this book is to provide a comparative analysis of the evolution of science, technology and innovation (S&T&I) policies in these five countries, using as an analytical framework the concept "system of innovation and competence building", developed within the global network "GLOBELICS". This book is a very useful tool for policy makers and scholars who would like to deepen their knowledge on S&T&I policies of these emerging economies. The introduction provides a comparative presentation of the science and technology and innovation policies in the BRICS countries.
