“But it's not my job … ” : The role librarians play in library development

Purpose – The purpose of this article is to highlight the importance of librarians and library staff in a successful development program. Design/methodology/approach – Narrative article to emphasize that successful library development programs require the input and support from librarians and library staff. Findings – Library development programs do not operate in a vacuum and in fact draw upon the talents of many key personnel throughout the library. Originality/value – Practical suggestions for incorporating the whole library organization into development and fundraising efforts.
