Calculation of nutrient surpluses from agricultural sources

The assessment of potential losses of agricultural fertilizers to waters require prior calculation of nutrient balance (surplus). This study shows how the use of CORINE land cover allows calculating comparable surplus values at the river catchment level, despite heterogeneity and high degree of aggregation of the available statistics for the two test basins (Loire, (F) and Elbe (D, CZ)).
