Comment l’opinion perçoit la mondialisation : une exception française ?

The article verifies that the French public opinion is more hostile to globalization than most of the other countries. The political cleavage between the left and the right wings is inadequate because the French conservatives inherit from a heavy mercantilist tradition. In the European Union, the international trade theory based approaches are in opposition with the fact that such hostility is prevalent in all the professional categories. The high share of public expenses is not perceived as a guarantee for the "losers" of globalization. Nevertheless, with regard to other countries, the attitude of France is relatively more opened to immigration issues. The French exception could then come from a higher aversion for the risk, itself aggravated by globalization.
