Comment on Shaw-Taylor, Shiue, and Moriguchi
This year there were a total of seven dissertations submitted for the Alexander Gerschenkron Prize covering China, the Caribbean, Japan, Spain, Italy, England, and several other European countries. Two were explicitly comparative in nature. Five were from Ph.D. candidates doing their work in the United States, one was from England, and one was from Europe. All were impressive and a treat to read, and I extend congratulations to the authors and their advisors.
