Competing Narratives of Justice in North-South Environmental Relations : The Case of Ozone Layer Depletion

This chapter explores the different – and often competing – narratives of justice that underlie the approaches to international environmental law and policy taken by the North and the South, using the debates surrounding the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer as a case study. It considers how the resulting regime might be said to represent an attempt to develop consensus around what justice requires in international environmental affairs
