Competition Between Electronic Auction Marketplaces - An Analysis Based On Computer Simulations

This dissertation studies the competition between two e-auction marketplaces using computer simulations. The simulation answers questions of whether the evolution of the market converges to market duopoly or monopoly? Moreover, what is the influence of the listing fee on the evolution of the market? Based on the findings, this study suggests that marketplace operators make use of listing fee in competing with their rivals to attract participants.
