Competition merger brief : Issue 3/2016 (Special Edition Telecoms)
In recent years the Commission examined many telecommunication mergers in Europe and gained significant experience in assessing the different issues raised by consolidations involving mobile-only operators or mobile and fixed operators. While mobileonly mergers often result in horizontal concerns, fixed-mobile mergers invoke the need to analyse carefully the possible conglomerate issues alongside limited horizontal overlaps. As regard remedies, there is no one solution that fits all cases, but remedies must fully address the competition concerns.
