Comprehensive Benefits Analysis and Design Optimization of Renewable Energy-Electricity-Hydrogen System Considering Environmental Benefit Quantification : A Case in China

Renewable energy cannot be fully utilized due to the fluctuation of renewable energy power generation and transmission capability in China. This article proposes a renewable energy-electricity-hydrogen system aims to make the most of renewable energy including curtailment. Then, building the economic and environmental benefits calculation model of the system from the perspective of the whole life cycle, which quantifying the environmental benefits through carbon trading and pollutant emission charge standards. Finally, take a wind farm project in Inner Mongolia, China as an example, set the power plant to generate only as a scenario(S1), design the optimal power of hydrogen production system added to the power plant considering the economic benefits(S2) and comprehensive benefits(S3), and evaluate and compare the benefits of the three scenarios, respectively. The results show that the power of the hydrogen production system are 17.5MW(S2) and 19.8MW(S3), the economic benefits increased from 65.85 million CNY(S1) to 253.38 million CNY(S2), 251.53 million CNY(S3), environmental benefits increased 181.67 million CNY(S2) and 186.04 million CNY(S3) compared with S1 atter configuring hydrogen production by water electrolysis system on the basis of renewable energy power plants, which has significant comprehensive benefits.
