Connections among different phase transition problems in two dimensions
Some of the two dimensional statistical mechanical models likely to be discussed in this meeting are described and their properties outlined. The phase transitions of most of the models can be discussed as lying upon lines of continuously varying critical behavior. One particularly simple example of this type of model is the Gaussian model, which can be treated as having independent spin waves and vortex excitations.
