Constraints on urban development in Port Said

Urban development in Port Said is extending into areas where salt attack on new buildings is likely to be both intense and rapid. The problems of salt weathering on buildings and other urban structures in hot arid lands are well documented in general, but they have not previously been applied to Port Said. Five sources of salts are identified as causing damage to buildings within the Port Said area. (DSE)
