Corporate Environmental and Resource Management : In Search of a New Managerial Paradigm

Sustainable Development is close at becoming the catcword of the 1990s. As it has been developed up to now, however, it is somewhat far from being operational for individual corporations. It is attempted to transform the Brundtlandian contradictorary concept of sustainable development into a corporate and operational context. As it is argued, economists interests for the environment is of no new date. Implementing or banning sustaiable corporate environmental and resource management practices it is argued, is not a true choice the industrialist are facing as (s)he ultimatively will have to obay the laws of Thermodynamics. The implications form implementing such a new corporate development philosophy, however, will have far reaching implications. The outline of such a paradigm are introduced before closing this article. This paradigm challenges, however, not only the very way industry does business today, it attacks the very bedrock on which mainstream economics is based too
