Crisis, disaster, or gift

Purpose – This article seeks to explore easier ways to weather the bad economy. Design/methodology/approach – The article offers the author's views on how librarians can cope with present economic circumstances. Findings – Money is not the only element of the librarian's job. Originality/value – The article urges readers to look at patterns of past economies and their effects on libraries, and suggests how librarians might adapt to changing circumstances.
